i miss when the internet was chronological
searching the internet for traces of a long gone tumblr blog
a short bitsy game about holding on to deleted memories, the ephemeral nature of the digital landscape (and tumblr’s golden era)
controls:
pc - wasd or arrow keys
mobile - swipe to move

made for bitsy jam #76 – lost media
had many more scenes but they had to be removed because bitsy is being glitchy
very inspired by TOPOGRAPHY by cecile richard

who made this?
i'm capnka, and i'm a hobbyist experimenting with pixel art. i came across bitsy a few months ago, and and thought the bitsy jam would be good motivation to start learning to make games. this is my first ever bitsy game! all comments and feed back appreciated <3

these words were really good. i've done something like what the narrator is doing plenty of times. i miss the internet. on a technical level i'm also amazed at how you managed to convey scrolling through tumblr via something like bitsy. wonderful.
thank you so much!! really means alot <3
right in the feels, a very nice experience
glad you liked it :D
very cool
thank youu
absolutely utterly in love
happy you liked it :D
So beautiful. I love this strong melancholic feeling. Really makes me remember the old internet
glad you enjoyed it ^^
a hardcore soft melancholy vibe
hope you enjoyed it ^^
I absolutely did :D
I loved this game! The atmosphere is so sentimental and bittersweet, and I love the writing! Can I ask where the music is from? The link isn't working for me but I really like it. Nostalgic and beautiful game :)
thank you so much! i'm so happy you asked that question, the music is from an old long dead mmo (the mmo & company that made it don't exist anymore), i thought it would add a layer of depth to the game since it matches the theme well
thats so cool! I love how it matches the game so well both sonically and theme wise :D
I connected so much with this game. It is a strange feeling getting older after growing up with the internet, and that nostalgia of looking at old sites full of broken links and images is something you captured quite well.
yeah growing up with the internet was an experience. there’s actually a term for the rise in broken links called ‘link rot’
Wow loved the bowling part, the whole thing was quite nostalgic. Tumblr was quite an era haha.
thank you! it really was haha
Great game, the music, art, and message brought a unique experience. It reminded me of times when I used to visit old websites to see if they still exist. Congratulations.
thank you so much!! glad you liked it
really genuine and very, very relatable, the part about typing in a URL for something that doesn't exist anymore without realizing it hit especially hard for me. you did a great job with the visuals as well!
thank you so much! glad you found it so relatable, wasn't sure if others did that too lol
What a touching musing. Well done! Really loved the flow and the writing on this.
thank you! really happy you liked it
i loved the message of this, bitsy games about being online are always really nice :)
thank you, it's my fav genre lol
beautiful! loved the colors and the theme!
thank you!!
I really like how creative this is with the “interface”, and the little moments when the player becomes something else!
thank you! that means alot, very glad you enjoyed it :D
cool game! really great art style and nostalgic look back.
thank you so much!
Great work!
This one has a nice little narrative about the internet's golden ages, and it tells the story well though the scenes. I'm sure there's an audience of people somewhere who would relate heavily to this idea and enjoy this game very much. It's that simplistic, nostalgic quality of things that seems to make it more engaging, at least for me :)
thank you so much for the super detailed feedback! very insightful
